Arizona HS Open 5K Championship

A track 5K, scored as a cross-country race.

Welcome to the 3rd Annual Arizona HS Open 5K Championship — a unique meet that brings cross-country team scoring onto the track in late November, giving your XC squad one more competitive opportunity together before the season closes and track begins.

Each gender will run up to seven 5K races, broken into heats of 30 athletes. Heats are sectioned slow to fast based on seed times, and results from every heat are combined at the end of the night to determine team scores.

Limited field. Champions guaranteed in.

Entries are limited to the Top 25 AZ Cross Country Teams registered, plus the Top 35 individual athletes registered, per gender.

Seed times will only be accepted from these five Arizona meets:

• Desert Twilight
• AIA Divisionals
• AIA State
• CAA State
• NXR (Nike Cross Regionals)

AIA & CAA Division Champions are guaranteed a spot. Example: AIA Division 1–4 State Champions and the CAA State Champion, plus the next 20 top-ranked teams in the state which register, will be selected. Our selection committee determines team rankings based on season performances and each team's top-5 average from qualifying races. The top 35 AZ individual entries registered will be admitted into the race.
